Pre-competitive 1: 5 – 6 years of age
- Will train 3 days @ 2 hour – total 6 hours per week minimum
- This is an exciting age! The girls are excited to learn, so it will be our goal to teach them structure, enhance their listening skills. Conditioning and flexibility is introduced at this age, along with a strong emphasize on basic skills. Good attendance is vital at this stage, because each class builds on the previous class.
Pre-competitive 2: 6 – 7 years of age
(registered with OGF as Pre-competitive)
- Will train 3 days @ 3 hour – total 9 hrs/week minimum
- The growth and development of the athlete at this age will determine whether they will advance to either our Pre-competitive 3 or our Intermediate program. This age is exciting; the athlete at this age starts to understand their body in motion, so skill learning starts to excel at this time. We will begin competing the girls at this age at Fun Meets. There are 5 events in women’s gymnastics, Vault, Bars, Beam Floor and Competition.
It takes several years to teach an athlete to compete well, so we must practice this along
with the different apparatus.
Pre-competitive 3: 7 – 8 years of age
(registered with OGF as Pre-competitive)
- Will train 3 or 4 days @ 4 hours – total 12 – 16 hours per week
- This year your child will begin learning goal setting, visualization skills, skill combinations, and routines. At the end of this group your child will be placed in the
Provincial Competitive levels. This level will depend on your child’s skill level her
ability to compete and her ability to goal set and how well she completes tasks.
Provincial Level – 9 years of Age to 18+
- Will train 5 days @ 4 hours – total 20 hours per week – minimum
- Your child is now older enough to compete and qualify for Provincial Championships
and different tour groups. The level is divided not only by age but by Levels that the
Ontario Gymnastics Federation guidelines. You will be aware of this placement by the
end of August.
National Level: 9 years of age to 18+
- Will train minimum 24 hours per week depending on level
- This category is for the athlete that excels during training and has the ability to perform and compete sills at a high level. This athlete will compete within the Province as well as across Canada at National Championships.
Intermediate: 7 – 18+ age
- Will train 2 or 3 days at 4 hours for a total of 8 or 12 hours per week – minimum
- This is a great group of athletes that have the option to train 8 hrs or 12 hrs per
week. These athletes compete at 2 – 3 competitions a year, and are a vital part of our
competitive program. These athletes can compete on all four events or can specialize on
their favorite event. With the flexibility of training hours, this program fits in with busy
schedules.
