The philosophy of the tumbling program is to allow experienced athletes an alternative to
artistic gymnastics (men’s or women’s) or the inexperienced athlete an opportunity to be
introduced to the sport of gymnastics through power tumbling. The structure of the program is simple, with interclub, provincial and national stream programs which are based solely on difficulty requirements. If the athlete has limited experience in tumbling, they will begin in the pre-competitive level.
Pre-Competitive Program (Ages 7-10 3 days per week – 6 hours )
- The pre-competitive program allows the athlete to build a basic skill level to
compete at a competitive level. Conditioning, basic tumbling elements and basic
trampoline for tumbling is the focus in the pre-competitive program.
Provincial Level (Ages 9 and up 3 days per week – 9 hours)
- The provincial stream has four levels, with a specific difficulty requirement at
each level. The focus of this program is for the athlete to compete at a level which is both rewarding and challenging. The athlete will compete in three provincial qualifiers attempting to qualify for the Ontario Tumbling Championships by achieving the minimum score criteria.
National Level
- The national level is the highest level of power tumbling, where there are four
categories with the difficulty increasing as you progress up to senior. This
program is designed for those athletes who have surpassed the provincial level
difficulty and have a desire to learn and compete more advanced tumbling skills.
Athletes will attend National Tumbling Championships if they reach a minimum
score criteria at the Ontario Championships. This level requires much more
dedication and commitment than the previous levels.
